Life of a Fangirl

Fangirl is a 2013 contemporary young adult novel written by Rainbow Rowell. Fangirl's publication follows Rowell's previous young adult novel published earlier in 2013, Eleanor & Park. (Wikipedia)

According to the urban dictionary, a fangirl means “a rabid breed of human female who is obsessed with either a fictional character or an actor.” In the story, Cath is a huge Simon Snow fan. She is a freshman at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, along with her twin sister Wren. But Cath is having a hard time adjusting to college because first, Wren doesn’t want to be her roommate and second, her social awkwardness that made everything harder for her. In her free time, Cath writes a fan fiction, together with Wren, about Simon Snow that has tens of thousands of passionate followers on a daily basis.

The story is clearly for young adults like me, especially the fangirling part. I can relate myself to Cath because there are times that I find it hard to let go of my fandoms even though I need to focus more on my studies. I also can relate to Cath in terms of social awkwardness, even though I am a talker, and I don’t even know why. I just find myself distancing myself from people. Cath suffered emotional and academic setbacks which some students are also experiencing.

In short, the story is all about how young adults who are experiencing “dramas” in their lives. It also showed how they almost gave up but decided to stand up and continue life. I recommend this not only because I can relate to it but because of the lessons you will learn in this story.

Life is hard, yes, but don’t let it ruin who you are and what you are. Fight for your passion even if people started bashing you or hating you. It’s your choice, not theirs.

About Young Love: Having a Crush On Your Senior

This was the most popular scene from the movie -- when Nam confessed to Shone. At this part Shone asked her if she was okay, and she shows him the 'ok' sign, even when she feels the other way round.

A Crazy Little Thing Called Love is a romantic-comedy film from Thailand that was released in 2010. It was directed by Puttipong Pormsaka Na-Sakonnakorn Wasin Pokpong and produced by Somsak Tejcharattanaprasert Panya Nirankol. Puttipong’s films are either comedy or RomCom films. He has directed four movies, and the movie I am introducing is his most popular movie.

This film used a story line that is about young love and the cheery life of students in high school, which will surely grab the attention of young adults and teens. Nam, a 7th grade student, has a crush on Shone, a 10th grade student. She did everything to make Shone notice her, from following the instructions on the book, 9 recipes of love (for students), which her friends bought, to trying to improve how she looks and how she behaves. The concept of young love was well-portrayed in the movie, hence all the butterflies created in our stomach, and tears shed out of the pain we felt when Nam confessed to Shone, but found out that he was together with his best friend (even when the truth is that he secretly liked Nam back). The producers also put popular celebrities in their film (Mario Maurer and Baifern Pimchanok are two of the said celebrities), so that their fans will be encouraged to watch the film. They wrote a good plot and used effective lines for comedy. The songs that were used in scenes are also appealing and catchy for the audience.

The movie tackles about true friendship, that a group of friends may have a misunderstanding, but in the end, they will forgive each other and will still be by each other’s side as life goes by. It inspires students who have a low rank in school to strive harder, as it was shown in the film that from the 30th place, Nam slowly got to the top of her batch by studying hard and achieving high grades. She also became popular when she started to look more ladylike. What was being omitted is the fact that people will only notice and appreciate you when you look pretty. That our society today values the ones who look pretty more than those who do not.

The audience may be inspired by the concept of the movie, of young love and the thrills of it. They may be motivated to improve and enhance their selves to be more attractive, fashionable, and studious until they achieve high grades. The girls may have set their standards about a boy higher than before. As for me? Well... I was given hope that someday, someone I like would secretly like me back, if not the same intensity then with higher intensity! Haha, kiddin’.

I think that the message of this movie was designed to relate to the people who secretly like someone, which will most likely be popular among the young age group. It also aims to give hope to those said people. The movie will also like to show us a peek of the life of a family that is still holding the bond together, even when one member of the family (in this case, Nam’s father) is away from them. Most of all, it tells the audience that no matter how long you are apart from someone, if you two are destined to be together, then you two will find your way into each other’s side in the right time.

Do you want to check the movie out for yourself? Then here's where you can watch the movie with English subtitles.

Broken emotions to youthful relationship

photo:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHUIoikgKT0

I’m sick of losing soul mates

won’t be alone again
I can finally see
you’re as fucked up as me

so how do we win?

That is one of the lyrics in the song that is very powerful for me. Today's blog we will be talking about the song called Sick of Losing Soulmates by Dodie Clark or as you would know by the name of doddleoddle in youtube. Dorothy (Dodie) Clark is a British musician who play mostly ukulele and piano. She writes her own music and uploads them on youtube and sometimes sing with her little sister Hedy. (http://www.last.fm/music/Dodie+Clark/+wiki)

The creative techniques that she used was that she used a dark ambiance through its background, we can also hear that she used an acoustic guitar, we can also tell that this song is a bit sad because of it's dark tone to it, she also used voice overs so that it would help the mood of the song, and also she used words that can be relatable to someone who has also gone through this kind of experience.

This message can be interpreted differently, because this message is actually about trying to stay friends after after a relationship and how it is difficult to do, some people can interpret this song as that she just broke up with a relationship, it can be interpreted as that someone she cares about has died, or that her bestfriend has now faded away and never came back. There are many ways that can interpret the message of this song but this were the ones that was interpreted by other people while they were watching it.

The life values and lifestyles that are represented and ommited in this is, it represented that it is difficult staying as friends after a hard relationship and you're not alone, and it ommited that there is still gonna be an end to a relationship even though it looks like it is a healthy relationship, but it doesn't mean that after ending a relationship together doesn't mean you two can't be friends together,

This message was made because this message is about having to stay friends after a relationship, which is very hard to do, which is Dodie was going though that time around when she was writing about, this message was for her bestfriend/ex telling that even though their relationship has ended, she will never stop being his bestfriend because she is tired of having the experience of losing someone again.

In the end, this song is very sad and very relatable to every person that has experienced this in their life, and even though some relationships may end that would never stop both of you becoming friends from each other, and it's tiresome to lose someone you care about again.

What's with 'the hidden injuries of the poor'?

 by: Dominique Portia T. Maglangit

                                                                                      https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl

The hidden injuries of the poor was written by Randy David "a Filipino journalist, television host and a sociologist" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_David) on July 21, 2001. In creating this essay, he used real-life examples that really made people read his work. Moreover, he used a well-known actor and a controversial politician which is the 13th President of the Republic of the Philippines, Joseph Estrada. What do you expect? People will really take their time reading this essay.
For the elites and some middle class’, it might be a slap on their faces because the essay tells the people that most of the higher ranks tend to belittle poor people. With that, it lowers their self-esteem and probably may affect their well-being. However, it can also be an eye-opener to those elites and middle class’. For the poor, it is their battle cry. The values represented in this essay is the importance of the “Filipino poor being restored to their humanity” (David,2001) and respect to each and everyone may it be poor or rich which is a great blur in this generation. The omitted part was that poor people MUST strive for excellence and they MUST also respect others so that others will respect them. After all, it is a give and take relationship. Remember that a country will never be progressive if it will always be take and take.
This message is sent for people to be aware of the feelings of others when they do such acts. It is not just to gain profit nor fame but it is the ray of hope for those who are finding light in the midst of humiliation, depression and confusion. This essay is an epitome that this world, even though technology-dependent, still aims for humanity to be refreshed, restored and saved ‘til the last breath of whoever it may be.

GONNA BREAK YOU OUT IN PRISON, Bro.

Most guys, you know, for the first time, they start with something small- mom, girlfriend's initials, something like that. Not you. You got a full set of sleeves, all in a couple of months. Takes guys a few years to get the ink you got.

Michael:
I don't have a few years. Wish to hell I did.

The quotation stated above was from the first season of an American serial drama television series entitled Prison Break. It first aired in the United States and Canada on August 29, 2005 on the Fox Broadcasting Company. It is produced by Adelstein-Parouse Productions, in association with Rat Television, Original Television Movie and 20th Century Fox Television. The first season contains 22 episodes, and ended on May 15, 2006. It has 4 seasons that ended on May 15, 2009.

The first episode, Pilot, shows how Michael, the younger brother and a genius, planned to help Lincoln, the older brother and was sentenced to death for a crime he didn’t commit. Michael was known to have tattoos. Cool tattoos. But it’s not just a simple tattoo inked in his skin, but it is a tattoo that has all of his plans to make sure that his brother will escape prison before he’ll be sentenced to death. It has

This series will surely make you crave for more! Why so? It is a combination of genius and plot twists. The characters you thought you know well have a secret. It may make or break your faith in them. And the characters you hate? YOU WILL DEFINITELY LOVE THEM. You won’t be able to accept if they leave so soon. Lastly, the things you expect less to happen will surely happen.

This can catch the attention of the people who likes action movies/series. This was a recommendation from my cousin. Honestly, I didn’t expect anything from this series. I was like, “ugh, another series to watch.” But my cousin really, really, REALLY gave thumbs up for this series. It may started long before we cared (and loved) television series, but I’m pretty sure this can change your opinion about 2000s television series. It was actually way, way, WAAAAAY past my expectation. (This may be my ~fangirl~ self writing, but I kid you not. DUDE, watch this series!!!!! YOU WON’T REGRET ANY EPISODE OF IT!!!!!)

LASTLY, there will be another season coming our way on Fox, so we better watch out for this one. (Trailer of Prison Break’s new season below.)

"The latest Bear Brand Adult Plus TV commercial featured the sensational love team of Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards ‘AlDub’. The much-awaited AlDub Bear Brand Adult Plus TV commercial has been released on Saturday, October 17, 2015." (www.zeibiz.com)

Format:
It was portrayed by the team up of Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards which are commonly called AlDub. They portrayed different jobs on the tvc. They showed how important Bear Brand milk drink to us.

Content:
This advertisement of AlDub shows that a Bear brand milk drink is really essential to Adults health particularly to those hardworkers. It portrays that this milk drink helps improve the "Adult tibay nutrients" and "Adult Lakas Nutrients". It is a 32-second TV commercial where Alden and Maine portrayed various jobs like bagger, maggugulay, nurse, construction worker, etc. The pair was shown in their signature split-screen fashion with the message of the TVC revealed by their conjoining signs which shows the potential of the workers when they will drink this ADULT BEAR BRAND.

Audience:
The target of this TVC is the adult ones who are capable of doing hard works. This Bear brand adult plus is also affordable and can sustain them to face there work strong and healthy. I think it includes the fans of ALDUB because at this time they are popular in terms of many commercials but especially in the " Eat bulaga".

Pupose:
The purpose of this TVC is not just to entertain the fans of Aldub but most especially to those workers who aren't "matibay at malakas in nutrients" . It is also influential because they are famous and many people love there team. Of course, they catch the attention of the people.

Conclusion and message:
This TVC influenced many people not just adult ones but also others. Because of there nakakakilig at number one na loveteam, I think it is one of the reasons why the producer chose ALDUB to be the endorser of the TVC. Which means that these TVC was not just to influence the audience to avail there products but also to increase there ratings.

Change is Here

Group 6 - Entry no. 3 by Dominique Portia T. Maglangit
 Photo from - http://trending.ph/story/the-philippines-with-its-newest-16th-president-rodrigo-roa-duterte-now-proclaimed

They say change is inevitable but for the Dutertards, “Change is coming.”
It is with great pride and honor watching our very own Mindanaoan take his oath and eventually lead the Philippines into greater heights.
Last May 9, 2016, the Filipinos chose their president and on June 30,2016 he was inaugurated as President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Many are in doubt of his capabilities but more than 16 million legal aged Filipinos know and believe in what he can do to our country.
During his inauguration, according to the news that is circling around the social media specifically, Facebook, President Duterte said to one of the waiters, “Huwag mong ibaba ang sarili mo sa akin. Kahit ako presidente, katulad mo din ako.” Hearing these words from the President is really comforting and surely, this regime will make a page in the history of the Republic of the Philippines.
Now that he is in the position, we are excited in that change that he’s been promoting all the way. Ending the chain of drugs, gaudy mumbo jumbo of politicians and war, this man, this honorable and respected President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, pledged to his countrymen, visioning a world where none is deprived of education and equality.
Political analysts, pro or anti, neutral, OFW’s, young and old, everyone is counting on Digong. Yet, he can’t do it alone, because WE are the change. President Duterte won because he is the key for that change and we are the lock that will soon be unlocked.
President Duterte is also known for being the man who walks his talk. A man of integrity, strong faith and brave heart. They see him as a man who holds gun for fun, but for millions, he is the man that holds gun to eradicate drugs and to bring peace.
At this moment, we, the Filipinos, are praying and hoping that he will do what he said in his campaigns and in his inaugural speech, that he will show the ray of hope and quench the thirst for a new beginning. The Filipinos have high hopes for the El Presidente.
One thing is knocking at our doors and the answer depends on us not only to the man of change. Just set your mind and ready your heart to make bridges when problems create trenches because with this we, the Filipinos and President Duterte, will surely be the change that we are craving for so long.
Change has come, change is here.

Peaceful Life (entry #2 by: Marvin Roldan)

"Wolf Children"

Wolf children is a movie about a young mom who is struggling her day to day life with her children who are half werewolves .

Movie 101 tuesday is here, today we'll be talking about Wolf Children by Mamoru Hosoda. Mamoru Hosoda is also the director/maker of the successful movies of "The Girl who leapt through Time", "The Boy and The Beast.", and "Summer Wars". He is now being proclaimed as the successor to Hayao Miyazaki because of his excellent works of art and incredible story line.

In this movie they used creative techniques like the background very vibrant in color because they used water color painting and acrylics, and everytime an important scene is playing the music flows with mood of scene which makes a perfect atmosphere, and they used a amazing storyline so that can affect any people at all from young to old, men or women in different races or sexuality, this movie is very amazing.

The message that is being presented can be very different to other people cause this message is very similar to some of our issues in society, like they can interpret it as "you can never live a happy life if you have children like that" or "peaceful life could never be achieved if you live in this kind of lifestyle.", but most of the people interprets the message as "Even though your child is different, you should still love them because they're your children", and "anyone could live a lifestyle like that if they are hard working or motivated to live like this."

In this movie it gives a message of what a life of a single mom looks like plus her children are half werewolves which is presented as a very hard lifestyle, but as time goes by she was able to live a peaceful life with her children by workinghard and jot giving upon tge dreams that you want, also as you can see as time goes by one of her children was being bullied for being different, it is the same for what our society looks like in the present, you get discriminated, criticized and bullied by people for being different, but eventually the kid lived happily and ignored the negativity in his and surround himself in good vibes, which is very nice to present this kind of messages in a amazing way.

This movie was made as an inspiring movie for all people out there who is having troubles with their life, it just tells us not to give up on life even it gives you lemons, if it gives you lemons, make lemonade, work hard for things in your life, love the ones that are important to your life even though they are different, live in a life where you could see your children and your life improve peacefull, that's why this movie is very amazing.
